Renjo Base Camp Day 2: Due to the altitude, we all had a hard time sleeping. Nicolas has a strong headache and has lost his appetite; I woke up with a light headache but no other major problems.  Shawna had a terrible headache during the night but after breakfast and her Diamox she started Imageto feel much better.  We are staying at the Renjo Base camp for another day to help us acclimatize to the new altitudes.  We only have 300 meters more in altitude before we cross the pass into the Gokyo valley however due to the altitude sickness we will stay put for another night.  Nicolas went down to the lower valley in morning to get use to the altitude and take his Diamox.  He came back in the afternoon feeling much better.  Simon and Danzig the Sherpa took a day hike into the mountains to take photos. Shawna and I relaxed at base camp and will plan to take a small day walk into the mountains this afternoon.  We are taking our time to catch up on laundry and to recharge our batteries (laptop and ours).  I set up our solar panels and have recharged my laptop and the Thuraya phone.  The setup seems to work well, however the laptop power supply is a little finicky and does not like charging the laptop.  I had to use the multi charger to charge the laptop batteries and not the laptop power supply.

The Sherpas and porters had a loud game of spades going on outside our tent.  Everyone is enjoying the down day day.  Our camp is  on top of a ridge next to a small creator lake. Huge mountains surround us on all sides.  There is allot of fine beach sand around the creator and it makes it feel like your walking on a beach.  If we had more energy we had joked about a volley ball game.  By dinner, everyone has come back to camp and we are all feeling much better and are use to the altitude.   We keep having some excellent soups and banana pancakes that were my favorite.  The cooks have introduced hot tang, which is a nice change after days and days of black tea.  Shawna still has a head cold and strong cough and hopes the rest will let her recover.  We have a new group that just came into the same valley as us and they are setting up camp. Tomorrow we have a very early morning to make it over the ridge before the heavy noon winds pick up.  After the three hours trudge up the pass we will have another 6 hour walk into the Gokyo valley.  Most people have told me that the valley is one of the most beautiful in Nepal.  It is hard to imagine anything more beautiful that what we have seen so far.  A limited number of people use this route, and it is to high and rocky for Yaks to use.  I plan to edit some more photos and post this tonight.
